Once upon a time, there was an app called Hinge. Ben was a long-winded texter, but Makayla thought he was pretty cute, so she thought she could at least go out and get a free dinner. Things went well, but the butterflies got the best of Ben, and he had to run go throw up in the restaurant's bathroom. A very memorable first date to say the least. Fast forward to a few months later, after bonding over a mutual love for Jesus, The Office, lunchables, rock-climbing, and doggos, they realized that their relationship had the potential to lead to something very special. After commuting back and forth on the weekends for several months between Roanoke and Lynchburg, Ben decided he wanted to save some gas and he moved to Roanoke. Before long, Ben started plotting plans for their engagement. He thought spending 16 hours in a car together was the perfect way. On their road trip to Texas (to visit family for Thanksgiving) they made a stop in Arkansas. Unbeknownst to Makayla, she had planned her own engagement location by insisting they stop to see the beautiful St. Anthony's glass chapel. After suspiciously asking a stranger to video them, Ben got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him (without throwing up)... and the rest is history.
