Our Story

We both grew up in DeWitt, Iowa and attended the same high school. Throughout those years, we were good friends, but after graduation, we went to different colleges. However, fate brought us back together during our first summer back in DeWitt. During those three months, we spent almost every day together, rekindling our connection. Deciding to give long-distance a chance, John moved to Ames while Rachel settled in Cedar Falls. Despite the physical distance, we made the effort to travel back and forth on weekends to spend time together. Eventually, during our junior year, John transferred to the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), bringing us closer geographically. After graduating from college, we faced another long-distance situation. John made the move to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, while Rachel relocated to Des Moines, Iowa. However, our love prevailed, and in 2017, Rachel decided to join John in Wisconsin. Together, we established Milwaukee as our home and enjoyed three years together before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, prioritizing our connection with friends and family, we made the decision to move back to Iowa. Alongside our return, we welcomed a new addition to our family, a miniature schnauzer named Graham. The move allowed us to be closer to our loved ones during these uncertain times. Overall, our story is one of friendship, perseverance, and adapting to life's changes. From our high school days in DeWitt to navigating long-distance relationships through college and beyond, we have shown commitment and dedication to each other. We look forward to the future and this next chapter in our lives.
