On her way to work Reyna noticed her check engine light was on. She made a call to her dad and he told her to have the code read and car checked at an auto store after her shift. After having a rough shift at the hospital she was on her way to get the car checked out. While driving to the auto store, something hit her windshield and left a massive baseball sized crack on it. From bad to worse for Reyna.. but what she (and I) didn't know was this was the moment that would change both of our lives forever. Reyna took a picture of her windshield and posted it on her instagram story. I saw that and literally replied, "Yikes". That was it. From there it was on, we have messaged each other every day since. After a few weeks of messaging and talking on the phone, I was trying to get her to come visit California. Crosswalk church was also having a celebration of their 18 years of being a church in Nov. I noticed that Reyna also attended Crosswalk, but in Chattanooga. I saw this as an opportunity to get her to come to California, plus some of her best friends being in the area made it perfect. It was a great excuse to see her in person and also get to know her more. She came out and we were able to spend some time during the weekend to get to know each other. We also made plans to go to Disneyland. Just the two of us. After a full day of riding all the rides, a few of them twice, we went on one of my favorites, Guardians of the Galaxy Breakout ride. This ride has a bunch of drops that make you go weightless for a few seconds. Reyna couldn't help but squeeze my hand super tight and bury her head into my shoulder. I had a pretty good idea then about how she felt. After the ride we walked around a bit more to the water and across from the big Mickey Mouse wheel. As the sun was setting, I told her how I felt. Luckily she felt the same. After doing a few more rides and closing the park down, we came home. It was a perfect day. She had to go back home to Tennessee a day later, and after dropping her off at the airport I remember thinking, "This is different." She came back and visited a few more times. One of those times she surprised me a day before my birthday. Thats when we became official. Reyna then took a travel nursing assignment here in Loma Linda soon after. Fast forward through a few more Disneyland adventures, trips to Arizona and Tennessee to Feb 5, 2023. The day she said yes. Now we just want to fast forward to Sept 24 and celebrate with you all!
