In light of the pandemic, we wanted to let you know our wedding is going forward as planned. If you’re no longer able to attend, we completely understand. You can update your RSVP anytime on our site, and we wish you health and safety during this challenging time.
The year was 2017. Rex had been coaching at a boxing gym in Eau Claire, when Rach decided that she wanted to try a new sport. Her first week at the boxing, she spotted a cute trainer from across the gym. They locked eyes, and their story began. Rex and Rach had their first date on September 3rd, 2017, at Acoustic Cafe, for "an academic interview." They ended up sharing their hearts and bonding over green tea ice cream. After a multitude of workouts, lengthy conversations over coffee, stumbling attempts at learning both Filipino and Spanish, a few shared plane rides, and growing together in faith and in love, they each knew they had found their person.
To celebrate their second anniversary together, Rex treated Rachel to a beautiful evening at Johnny's Steakhouse (an Eau Claire favorite). After a reflective dinner conversation about all of the blessings 2019 had brought, Rex surprised Rach with a scrapbook. Upon reviewing the sweet memories together, she noticed that the last page hinted toward a very bright future together. He smiled at her innocently. Hmmm... And then, after what felt like years.... Rex stood, and invited Rach to come by him. He turned, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would marry him. Their smiles were miles wide as she nodded and affirmed, "Yes, of course!" The servers and families around them erupted in applause. (One woman was even a bit envious, and jokingly let her man know that Rex had set the bar high.) They floated home on a cloud that night. And now, let the planning and fun begin! <3
