It all started on an ordinary Sunday. We had made plans to meet each other at a small little Thai spot in Stockton, CA for our first date. Little did we know that this first date would lead to something much more. Reveca would say that I was 5 mins late when in reality I was only 2 mins late, I was nervous what can I say? We met outside the front of the restaurant and I didn’t know whether or not to hug her or give her a friendly handshake. Luckily she had the courage for the both of us and hugged me. After that we went inside and from then on our first date wasn’t your typical nervous first date. We talked for the entire time not skipping a beat. It was as if we’ve known each other forever. As the dinner came to a close Reveca suggested to get some dessert at an ice cream shop down the street. We started walking and still conversing when suddenly something so embarrassing happened. Something that I knew for sure would have ended it. Reveca had asked me a question and just as I’m about to answer, I let out a small burp. It wasn’t small, it was huge. I was so embarrassed, but Reveca being Reveca didn’t skip a beat and instead laughed and cracked a joke at me. From that point on, I knew she was different and I could not let this one go. As for Reveca, forgiveness goes a long way.
We planned a trip to Mexico and booked a week long stay at Hotel Xcaret. We were celebrating our one year anniversary. Lots of activities were planned—snorkeling, swimming, walking on the beach and lots of delicious food! But one of the things we looked forward to the most was our actual anniversary—we had reservations at Restaurante Ha on August 25, 2020. We were getting ready for our special reservations but had decided to go to the chapel that was at the resort and take pictures. To get to the chapel you need to cross a couple bridges and it had just rained and they were very slippery. So we decided not to go. Walked around the facility and Kyle said, “let me take your picture over looking the ocean from this balcony…” and when I turned around from the “picture” I saw Kyle was on one knee, holding out a box with my dream wedding ring. 366 days led up to a “YES!!!!!!!” Yes to spending a lifetime with my best friend, better half and my future.
