You will notice the majority of our recommendations for places to eat, see and visit are in OTR and that's because this is OUR neighborhood! We hope you will check out what it has to offer- it is a really special place. OTR is one of the largest, most intact urban historic districts in the U.S. OTR has been praised for its collection of historic architecture. Its architectural significance has been compared to the French Quarter in New Orleans and the historic districts of Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. The neighborhood's distinctive name comes from its builders and early residents, German immigrants of the mid-19th century. Many walked to work across bridges over the Miami and Erie canal, which separated the area from downtown Cincinnati. The canal was nicknamed "the Rhine" in reference to the river Rhine in Germany, and the newly settled area north of the canal as "Over the Rhine".
Cincy is without a doubt a beer town! Cincinnati was one of the leading beer-producing cities before Prohibition and has a rich brewing heritage dating back over 200 years. You cannot be in Cincy and not drink a few of our local brews. With a name that translates to “ghost of the Rhine,” it’s only fitting that Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist Brewery taps into the spirit of the city’s rich brewing history. Very cool taproom.
Literally steps outside the AC Hotel, The Banks is the district between the Reds and Bengals stadiums, flanked by the city on one side and the Ohio River on the other. And guess what? It's an open container district! So buy a drink and bar hop! If you're looking for a bite to eat or a cold beverage, try Moerlein Lager House, Tin Roof, Yard House, Ruth's Chris, Holy Grail, Jefferson Social, BurgerFi, or Condado Tacos.
The hub of downtown Cincinnati. There are always events scheduled here so stop by and see what is happening. During the colder months, there is an ice skating rink with skate rentals which is a fun way to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
If you want to get some steps in before the wedding, we highly recommend this walk! Hike up the art steps and then make your way to Eden Park. Another one of Renee's most beloved places in the entire city. Eden Park has a spectacular view of the river below.
