Flight
This is a regional airport, so most of our friends and family will have to connect via Denver to get here. SLO is about 20 minutes from Morro Bay.
Travel Note
Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) – approximately 2 hours south by car. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – approximately 3.5–4 hours south by car, often with the most flight options. We recommend renting a car if you'd like to explore the beautiful Central Coast, wine country, beaches, and nearby attractions. Once you're in Morro Bay, many restaurants, shops, and waterfront attractions are easily walkable.
Hotel
This will probably be the hotel. We were looking at dog friendly hotels that are walking distance to Chablis Cruises. This hotel is walking distance, more affordable, clean, and the 1st floor rooms have nice patios, while the 2nd floors have balconies and possible views of the bay. I plan to reach out and find out about a hotel block soon.
Hotel
This is a more upscale hotel. About $100 more per night. Right on Embarcadero Street, awesome views of the bay from even "partial views". 14min walk to the boat dock. We spoke to them about a block for the wedding, but they likely are booked already for the date. Clean rooms, with pastries and coffee in the morning.
Hotel
This Inn has the room doors inside the building. Looks pretty nice, clean rooms. There is a sun deck, some rooms might connect to it but it is a public deck. Doesn't seem to have any balconies. Right across the street from Harbor House Inn.
Hotel
Cool converted military building. Brand new, said to be very nice inside - we only walked through the hallways. Chablis recommends this one. No views or anything like that, but very close to Chablis and would be an interesting place to stay.
Travel Note
We stayed at the Inn at Morro Bay to test it out. This hotel had everything I initially wanted (too many thing I guess for a dog friendly hotel because I've let a lot of these desires go), but had some sketch reviews. We stayed here to see if they were correct. Turns out they were. We didn't tell them we were scouting out for the wedding. The lobby is gorgeous! Beautiful restaurant and bar with huge windows over the bay. There were tons of birds there, the hotel is right next to a bird refuge. I was initially very pleased as it had a bar, pool, was right on the water. The room itself while quite large, grimy, had poor lighting, and old cheap furniture that had all seen better days. The bathroom was depressing like a barrack and the grout grimy. So I'd call it a 3 out of 5. I don't want to recommend it to folks, but if you really want a pool, and want to be by the rookery (which was pretty cool), be right on the water, it wasn't terrible. The bed was good - which in my opinion is the most important part. You would need to drive to the wedding venue.
