Rene and Kathy met on an online dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. Kathy's coworkers, Cassie and Eileen, made it a daily task to review Kathy's "bagels" for the day and they ultimately decided her fate. One evening, Kathy received a message from Rene answering her dating profile's prompt - What do you call a cow with no legs? Without much text exchange, Rene and Kathy agreed to meet for drinks at MoneyGunn the next evening on August 24, 2017. Kathy made plans with her best friend, Allie, to have a glass of wine before her first date and made Allie promise to call her after one hour, so she can fake an emergency and leave. One hour into the date, when Kathy saw Allie's phone call, she turned her phone on silent for the rest of the night. The rest is history :)

Rene & Kathy's first road trip together was to Traverse City, Michigan in December 2018. They quickly fell in love with the charm, serene waterfront and wineries. Rene had been planning the perfect proposal for months and he knew that Traverse City would be the place to do it.
