The wedding website directions tell you to start with a cute story about how you met. When you’re 50 something and 60ish, cute is a bit out of your wheelhouse. Our lives to this point have been long, joyful, sorrowful, adventurous, full, happy, sad and blessed. We have had amazing partners and we have between us 5 incredible kids. Neither of us thought we’d be celebrating a second wedding or embarking on a new life at this semi-advanced stage. And all the stages and changes that brought us here cannot be summarized in a few sentences. So rather than a cute story about how we got here, let’s talk about why we’re throwing a big party for this new chapter in our lives. Life is short. Life is unpredictable. Life is better with more parties. Too often we forget to stop, gather your people and just have a really good time. That’s our first goal for the weekend. Our second goal is to create connection and celebrate the amazing people who have brought us to this place and time— some of whom are no longer with us. We are excited to bring all the different parts of our stories together for this weekend and we truly hope that new memories, friendships and relationships are created. Our communities literally span the globe, crisscross the United States, and cover a dizzying array of interests and hobbies. So please, once you've caught up with the people you already know, look around and find people you don't. Get to know people who are just as important as you are to the story of our lives. Let loose and find out how they fit in the puzzle. We’d appreciate it and know you’ll enjoy meeting some amazing new folks! We are so excited to celebrate our wedding weekend with you! First, the basic details: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21 We are getting married at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 4:30 pm (211 Trinity Pl, West Palm Beach). The service will be about 30-40 minutes. Dress is khakis/shirt for men, dress or nice slacks for women. There will not be a full mass so no communion. Everyone of any faith, or no faith, is very welcome. There is a Welcome Party at the Ben Hotel at 8pm Friday night. Dress is Palm Beach casual/Florida vibes. Think pinks, greens, florals, Palm Royal TV show, Colony Hotel, fun, BUT most importantly anything goes, so if you are just flying in from somewhere and are wearing your athleisure, no worries- come have a drink and say hi! Also for Friday night, consider wearing clothes you can be active in…. For veterans of Johnson parties, you know what that means…. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22 Saturday night is the big celebration at 6pm. We decided to go with black tie because frankly we don’t get enough opportunities to dress up these days. Guys- this is easy— tuxes or black suits. Ladies- black dresses/pantsuits, white dresses/pantsuits or black and white if you can. If this creates stress don’t worry about it—this is supposed to be fun! Please note that there will be some walking and standing on turf so sky high stilettos are probably not ideal. There will be shuttles from the hotel area to the Norton— details forthcoming. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 Stop by The Ben for a casual drop-in brunch and one last chance to see old and new friends.
