They say "when you know, you know." Larén & Matthew didn't truly know what that felt like until they met each other. With Larén (Ren) originally being from Long Island, NY and Matthew (Matty) originally being from Tucson, AZ, they had to actively work to find their "people" once they moved to VA. They both moved to VA for work- Matty was an Active Duty soldier in the Army and Ren was a Firefighter/Medic for a local Fire Department. With both of their jobs being more of a lifestyle all the time and not just while on duty, they both found it hard to venture out and date. Given the circumstances, they had both decided to give dating apps a try and "see what happens." Neither of them were specifically looking for a relationship; They had just wanted to talk to people and see if anyone seemed worth their time. Ren and Matty had begun texting, and the next day they met at a local Cidery for their first date. They played card games and talked for hours. As Ren puts it, "he felt like home" from the start. They had their first date, and didn't stop hanging out since then. Matthew was over at Ren's place almost every day and not long after that, they moved in together. Matthew knew he wanted to marry Ren only a few short weeks after that and had told her, "it's not a matter of IF I want to propose to you, it's WHEN." Just short of 6 months later, Matthew planned an extensive birthday trip for Ren where they would explore California. It was during that trip when he decided to propose. Ren knew Matthew was her person within the first few weeks. She couldn't explain it in any other way than it just feeling right, and their lives merging in such a natural way. After Ren & Matty got engaged, they couldn't wait to start planning their dream wedding. Regardless of the engagement and wedding, they knew they wanted to grow old together. The engagement was the cherry on top of the life they had already begun creating together. This wedding is more than a symbol of their love for each other, and it wouldn't be their dream wedding without all of their people. They are so excited to not only get married, but to share it with every single one of you.
