Once upon a chilly November night, a girl with a normal-looking profile sent a like to a boy with a normal-looking profile over Hinge. They chatted for a week or so - Emily asked all of her questions, and Will appreciated this direct, no games approach. They had their first date on December 4, 2022, casual Sunday evening drinks at Landmark, a modern BBQ joint on the Lakewood-Cleveland border. There were nerves, but they immediately started to drip away with Will's signature move, the classic "accidentally dribble beer down your shirt." They talked for several hours, touching on everything from family and friends to religion, politics, and values. Emily couldn't believe she'd had three drinks on a first date, and Will couldn't believe she held his attention through the entire Bengals-Chiefs game. Several dates later, Will met Emily's friends to ring in 2023, and a couple weeks later they made it official. Things moved fast from there. Will found a loving and supportive bunch in Emily's family as he got to know them quite well over the next few months, even serving as pall-bearer in her Nana's funeral in late March. With a combination of patience and treats, Will also got Emily's temperamental cat Margot to go against her better judgment and accept a man into her life. Emily meshed seamlessly with Will's family as well. Her penchant for both relaxing with a beverage and going on challenging-but-not-insane hikes have made her the perfect addition to family vacations. Before 2023 was up, they were looking at apartments, and moved into their first place together in March 2024. Will and Emily share so many of the same values and have the same goals for life. They love their two cats (Margot and Bob, in case you hadn't heard), Lakewood, long walks, hiking, traveling, and a nice beverage on a sunny patio. They can just as easily go bar-hopping with friends as they can spend a rot day snuggled up on the couch with the pets. Emily has tried playing golf, Will has tried yoga & spin class, and they have concluded it is OK to have some separate interests.
