COVID-19 Update

Change the Date: September 26, 2021

COVID-19 has thrown us for a loop. Luckily, we were able to get married in our church ceremony as originally planned on July 17, 2020 with a small number of family and our bridal party! We still want to celebrate with you! We have decided to postpone our wedding reception (again!). Please save our new date of Sunday, September 26, 2021 The health and safety of our friends and family is extremely important to us. We are hopeful that we will be able to have our reception with all of our guests in 2021. Please continue to check our website as plans and changed and finalized. We will send a formal invitation next summer. We can't wait to dance with you! Love and virtual hugs, Ryan and Lauren PS. Please note that this is the second postponed date! We will no longer be having our wedding reception in December 2020.

The First Date

"I have a guy for you." A coworker said these words to Lauren on October 27, 2015. After seeing his picture on Facebook, Lauren thought he was pretty cute, and allowed her friend to text him. Later that afternoon, she got a friend request and a message saying hi from Ryan. On November 6, they decided to meet up at Tavern in the Square in Burlington. Ryan got there early that night with friends from work. Early enough to psych himself out, and contemplate cancelling the date all together. Against his friends’ judgement, he was on his way out to his car to get his bearings, when he saw Lauren walking towards him across the parking lot. She recognized him. “Ryan?” she asked. “Hey!” he responded. “What are you doing out here?” “Waiting for you!” Ryan says it was the best lie he ever told. As soon as he saw Lauren, his nerves disappeared.

The Proposal

Everyone knew Ryan’s plan, except Lauren. He wanted to propose on the night they would decorate their Christmas tree. On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Lauren had gone to her parents’ house after work. She sat talking with her Mom and Nanny for a while before leaving to go home, knowing that she and Ryan were planning to decorate the Christmas tree they had bought the night before. She was completely oblivious to her Mom’s hints at leaving. Planning on making dinner when she got home, Lauren stopped at the grocery store on the way, and called Ryan to ask him to get christmas lights and a tree topper, which they needed in order to decorate the tree. She and Ryan arrived home at the same time. He helped her bring up the groceries, but when she tried to close her trunk, she dropped the jug of milk on the pavement, spilling it everywhere. Frazzled and hungry, they put the groceries away, cleaned up the milk, and Lauren was ready to make dinner. But, Ryan couldn’t wait any longer. The rest is a blur for both of them. Ryan said he had a surprise for Lauren and wanted to give it to her before dinner. He brought her next to the Christmas tree and told her to close her eyes. When she opened them, he was down on one knee, with the most beautiful ring in one hand and an ornament in the other that said “Will you merry me?” Ryan asked Lauren to marry him. She said yes!
