All About Matt and Jamie

our story

It was a dark and stormy night. We met at a singles group event at a Bowling Alley on 7/11/2019. The next day, Matt sent Jamie a message on Meetup.com asking to go see Toy Story 4. On the second date, we went out to a local fine Italian restaurant and Matt showed up with a rose. When a man shows up with a rose, it means something special. The roses have been coming ever since then, sometimes just because Matt hasn’t given Jamie a rose in a while. Our first kiss was at the former observation deck atop Liberty One Place in Philadelphia. Matt took Jamie to her first Phillies game. We spent hours exploring the nature trails at Palmyra Nature Cove. Our first beach trip was in Wildwood, NJ. We went to a once in a lifetime Eagles game and the Eagles won in the last 40 seconds! It was Eagles vs Redskins and the team Redskins was renamed to Commanders. We explored Philadelphia’s Christmas Village, where Matt went ice skating for the first time. Then life turned upside down. Just before our first Christmas, Jamie was hospitalized after suffering a seizure. For over a month, Matt visited Jamie almost every day, first in the hospital and then in rehab. It wasn’t until February that Jamie returned home for good, and in early March Jamie was finally given medical clearance to leave the house and resume normal activities. A few weeks later, life turned upside down again. In March 2020, the Covid Pandemic hit. For three months, we could not see each other in person due to the lockdown. Thanks to technology, we were able to video chat regularly and spent many hours talking on the phone. Slowly, things opened up, and we could mask up and go places. We had our first major snowstorm, complete with a snowman, sledding, and snowball fun. One of our favorite post-lockdown adventures was our trip to Martinsburg, West Virginia, where we saw the historic railroad roundhouse and the home of Revolutionary War General and Martinsburg founder Adam Stephen. We completed our trip with a view of a waterfall and a rainbow. In Summer 2022, another adventure took place. Matt convinced Jamie to go along on a trip to Missouri on the pretense that the Cleveland Guardians baseball team was in Kansas City the same weekend that the Philadelphia Phillies were in St. Louis. Jamie thought the trip was all about baseball, but she had no idea what was coming next. After going to two baseball games, the Harry Truman Presidential Library, the Kauffman Memorial Garden, and the riverfront along the Missouri River, Matt proposed on top of The Gateway Arch on 7/11/2022, which is the tallest Monument in America. It was exactly 3 years from the day we met. Did Matt plan it that way? You had to be there to see the look on Jamie’s face when Matt proposed. Throughout our relationship, we have walked across bridges, climbed mountains, explored many nature parks, and attended local events. There have been many memories, some more memorable, some unique, and some more hilarious than others. There was the time when Jamie’s Valentine's day balloon lasted 3 months. There was the time when we went camping and we had to run to the Rec center to get out of the rain and we danced in our bathing suits to keep warm. In Missouri, it was so hot that the package of chocolate covered pretzels melted in the car. Then, when we were in the hotel room, Jamie’s ice pack got stuck to the little freezer and Matt had to rescue it by using a hair dryer to get it out. We enjoy spending time with friends and family. On a nightly basis, we enjoy watching our favorite TV show “Wheel of Fortune.” We enjoy playing board games and cooking together. Of course, we have our differences. Jamie loves reading books, arts and crafts, and watching Hallmark movies. Matt loves video games, watching sports, talking about politics, and operating model trains. Most of all, we love each other, and can’t wait to celebrate with you.
