COVID UPDATES

LOVE ISN'T CANCELLED

Hi everyone! We have chosen to cancel our wedding venue and have a tent reception and ceremony on Britt's families property in Windham, ME. We have rented a tent much larger than needed to allow for necessary social distancing. Tables will be seperated, and smaller numbers at each. We encourage anyone who feels inclined to wear a mask to do so. There will be plenty of space, plenty of air, and PLENTY OF LOVE.

How We Met

First comes work...then comes marriage?

Brittany: We were co-workers beginning in 2015, and despite my huge crush on Kyle (that's right- I am the pursuer here) we remained that for sometime. In 2016 with a change of circumstances our relationship blossomed and made it through some pretty substantial trials- chances are, if you know us and love us, we don't need to explain. In 2018 we made the decision, this was it for us. We were going to give this relationship our all. Fast forward a year later and here we are. The rest is the reason you're visiting this site. Kyle: I remember when Brittany first started at our old job. We both had a lot of different things going on in our lives and were just co-workers for quite some time. Later on down the line, I remember getting a message from her on Facebook and being somewhat caught off guard. I always thought she was beautiful and enjoyed the few times we had interacted but I just didn't think she was interested in me at all. A few dates later and we were at the top of Munjoy Hill watching the 4th of July Fireworks. A friend of mine, visiting from out of town, answered a phone call and said, "I'm watching fireworks with Kyle and......[awkward pause]......his friend, Brittany." Brittany promptly turned to me and said, "You know I'm your girlfriend, right?" It's been a long and winding road to get here and I wouldn't trade our path for anything in the world. Brittany captioned it best with our engagement photos on Facebook.... "Worth it all to end up here with you."

The PROPOSAL

"This place is nothing to write home about"

Brittany: On November 1st, I started a new job. Kyle was adamant that we go out and celebrate. He said his co-workers had been raving about "The Black Cow." Despite an overwhelming desire to put on my pajamas, we went out. I was very curious about WHO was raving about this restaurant - I mean, it was good but... it was picnic style, there were about 5 options on the menu, and I quoted to him over a chicken salad, "this place is nothing to write home about." LITTLE DID I KNOW - no one was talking about the restaurant, he just needed it for the location! We left and right outside was postal park. Before I could bee-line it to the car to get out of the cold, Kyle gently escorted me to the center of the circle and got down on one knee. Two of our very best friends were scouring the premise in Halloween masks (it's downtown Portland... anything goes, I didn't notice) and got the entire thing on film. It was a perfect evening, true to the people that we are and who we are together. Kyle: I didn't want the proposal to be anything extravagant. It's not our style and never has been. I wanted it to be a bit of a surprise and I knew planning something fancy would set off alarm bells. I got her ring on a Wednesday and knew I wouldn't make it through Friday night without asking Brittany to marry me. I drove around Portland on Thursday night with a simple criteria - It had to be well-lit and quiet... but pretty. I also wanted our friends to be able to get good pictures. I drove by Postal Park and they had really pretty lights that illuminated a cool, little courtyard. It was perfect. Now I just needed to figure out how to get Brittany there. There was a restaurant right outside the park called the Black Cow. I convinced Brittany we were going to go out for a Friday date night to celebrate her new job. After a brief parking scare (typical for Portland), I confirmed my photographers were in place with their Halloween masks. It went just as I envisioned it!
