We met on a dating app called Hinge, and after a few weeks of texting, we had our first date at the original Minero in downtown Charleston. Julia was a little late and Andrew was slightly concerned, but after a few minutes, we connected over Minero and great conversation.
Having lived together for years, sharing two dogs, and both of us surviving high stress jobs, Andrew knew the "right time" would be around the corner. We planned on going to Italy in the summer, and what better place for a proposal? Since Julia had an idea that a proposal could be a possibility on this vacation, she was skeptical on when it would happen. Andrew believed the last place she would expect would be the Vespa tour in Rome. There we were, at this beautiful Roman overlook named Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi. Andrew was incredibly nervous, despite having years to prepare for this moment. We walked a few steps away and Andrew proposed, after confirming with Julia which finger the ring goes on. Olivia was an excellent photographer and we even enjoyed a serenade, thanks to a street musician. Hat hair and all, it was a beautiful moment.
