Question

Is the weekend kid-friendly?

Answer

Sort of... the reception on saturday will NOT be good for kids - too risky to be on the boat for 5 hours. But kids are welcome on Friday, and we'd hate for anyone not to attend because this is an issue. Let us know if you want to bring your children - if so, we could probably help source a babysitter from Reilly's network of local pediatricians/med students.

Question

Is it possible to get on and off the boat during the reception?

Answer

From 5:30-10, no. We'll be cruising from South Lake Union into Lake Washington, and back, without dockside stops. From 10-11pm, we will dock at MOHAI (the starting point) for a final hour of music. Anyone who is feeling tired and wants a break or to exit is welcome to get off at this point rather than the final disembarkation from 11-11:30. That said, On the Hiyu is a very gentle vessel - originally a car ferry - and won't be moving fast. It has multiple bathrooms as well as one upstairs bar area that will be a quiet spot for anyone who wants it.

Question

When should I get into town?

Answer

Given the World Cup is in Seattle a few weeks before our wedding, we'd recommend tacking extra time on AFTER the event. Airfare and lodging will presumably be more available and cheaper in the later timeframe.

Question

Do you have hotel blocks?

Answer

Yes! See links in the Travel page. Let us know if the blocks fill up and we can contact hotel to release more rooms. Airbnb and VRBO are great options also - good neighborhoods are Fremont, Queen Anne, Ballard, and Eastlake, but you can't go wrong really. Hit us up for more individualized recommendations.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Friday is a pretty casual lakeside mexican restaurant. We put "summer party" - wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Saturday is "summer formal" - but again, wear what you like! We'll be dancing plenty. Both days, it will probably be decently warm but will cool off as the evening goes on.

Question

Can I bring a physical gift?

Answer

Gifts are truly optional and not expected - we know it's a hike out here for many folks, and your presence alone is what we want. Ideally, no physical gifts - or at least not to the boat - as they'll be hard to keep track of.

For all the days along the way
