Gorge Metro Park
Located less than 10 minutes outside of downtown Akron, this 155 acre park has plenty for everyone including trails, fishing, waterfalls, and picnic areas.
Pav’s Creamery
Since 1969, Pav's has been known throughout the Portage Lakes area as the only place for creamy Homemade Kustard and Frozen Ice Cream which has been shared and tasted for over 43 years.
Lock 3 Park

F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm
Just a 15 minute drive from downtown Akron, this beautiful park features numerous nature trails, ponds and paths, a nice bird viewing area, and a charming herb garden with lily pad pond. There is a nature center, gift shop, and restrooms accessible from both inside and outside.
Akron Civic Theatre
A 5-minute walk from St. Bernard's, this historic theatre is one of only five remaining atmospheric theatres designed by John Eberson in the United States and is an excellent example of the great movie palaces of the 1920s.
Akron Art Museum
The Akron Art Museum showcases regional, national and international art created since 1850. The museum's collection houses over 5,000 objects. Particular areas of strength include contemporary painting and sculpture and 20th century photography.
Wingfoot Lake State Park
Just a 5 minute drive from the reception hall, Wingfoot Lake State Park provides visitors with a delightful day spent outdoors. Groves of tall trees, expanses of grass, and a picturesque lake create a relaxing backdrop to paddling, fishing, picnicking, or disc golf.
Strickland's Frozen Custard
Located halfway between the church and reception hall, Strickland's is a small frozen custard chain founded in 1936 offering hand-dipped cones, milkshakes & sundaes. It was my favorite ice cream place when I was a little girl.
Firestone Metro Park
Under 15 minutes drive from Akron, this park features play fields & areas for cross-country skiing, sledding and fishing. Large wetlands and marshy meadows provide habitat for lots of wildlife. More than 175 bird species have been sighted in Firestone Metro Park, including various types of wrens, thrushes, warblers, woodpeckers, herons and ducks. A number of different raptors – including bald eagles and osprey – have been spotted.
Portage Lakes State Park
This The 411-acre park is located on a chain of lakes that the Native Americans used to portage their canoes between rivers. This park offers visitors a variety of outdoor recreational experiences, including hiking, disc golf, sailing, jet skiing, swimming, and fishing. Portage Lake's wetlands attract waterfowl and shorebirds providing visitors enjoyment whether hunting or observing wildlife.
