How We Met

Often times, love hides in plain sight. Have you ever wondered how Facebook or any social media app suggests people for you to follow? Well, because Regina and I had many mutual friends and mutual interests, we were connected. We thank God everyday for that. Our story begins, during a time where the world relied on having online connections. As the world was forced to separate while in a state of confusion due to COVID-19, we found one another online. We didn't meet at some bar or connect through a dating app, but Regina took interest in me and wanted to get to know me more after seeing my name pop up on her suggested friends. She saw I was a family man since I often would post photos and videos of my Goddaughter Sophia Rose and she saw that I had a passion for cooking. She had two reasons to spark up a conversation with me. May 2, 2020, Regina decided to hit send on a DM to me. What she couldn't control was my lack of attention to my social media notifications but she was patient enough to wait. It took me 17 days to realize that she messaged me, but since that day I never stopped thinking about her. I've never gone a day without speaking or texting her. I knew from our first date, there was something special about her. I never met someone who was so into me like she was. Like, she genuinely cared about what I had to say, what I thought, and how I was doing. I've felt love before, but nothing like this. And she would say the same for me. Dating during the pandemic took creativity and a commitment. We both wanted it to work. We tried so had to think outside the box when it came to dates. We went on a coffee date where we got coffee from different food chains and would rathe the best, we did the same with fast food burgers, took walks at midland beach, watched Game of Thrones in the car and then had our first official date on July 7, 2020 at South and Pine. with all we have been through, we've always been able to lean on one another, no matter how much pressure one of us was feeling. Love hides in plain sight, but love is also a heavy responsibility to carry together. I know I have the perfect partner for me, because she makes me feel stronger, wiser, and more confident. As we celebrate our love on March 23, 2024, please remember that in all that you do, do it with love. We've grown to learn nothing is worth more than the love we have for one another. we tell each other daily that as long as we have one another, we can get through anything.
