Travel & Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kelsey Maynard and Regan Jeffrey
We are so excited to welcome you to Martha’s Vineyard. The island is accessible by ferry or air, with service from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York. We recommend booking travel early, as summer availability can be limited.

Steamship Authority

The most common route is via the Steamship Authority from Woods Hole, which offers frequent service and is the only option if you are bringing your car.

RI Fast Ferry

For guests traveling from Rhode Island, the Vineyard Fast Ferry from North Kingstown is a quick and convenient passenger option.

Seastreak

For guests traveling from New York or nearby areas, Seastreak Ferry offers high-speed service from New Bedford.

By Air

For guests traveling from farther away, flying directly to Martha’s Vineyard can be a convenient option. Martha’s Vineyard Airport offers seasonal and year-round service from several major cities, with additional routes available during the summer months.

Getting Around Martha’s Vineyad

Ubers & Taxis: Uber and local taxis are available across the island, especially in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven. Availability can be more limited late at night or during peak times, so planning ahead is helpful. Island Buses (VTA): The island offers a free public bus system operated by the Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority that runs frequently between towns, including Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven. Bikes & Mopeds: Biking is one of the most popular (and scenic!) ways to explore the island, with beautiful bike paths connecting many areas. Rentals are widely available throughout the island. Mopeds are also available to rent for a fun and easy way to get around, especially for shorter trips. Rental Cars: While not necessary for everyone, renting a car can be helpful if you plan to explore more of the island. Keep in mind that bringing a car via ferry requires an advance reservation.

Things To Do

While you’re here celebrating with us, we hope you take some time to explore everything Martha’s Vineyard has to offer. There’s truly so much to see and experience, from charming coastal towns to some of the most beautiful ocean views. Spend a slow morning grabbing coffee at Espresso Love — one of our favorite spots — wander through the local towns and take in the unique character that makes the island so special. For a night out, we highly recommend dinner at Alchemy Bistro & Bar, and if you’re looking for something fun and classic, don’t miss a dirty banana mudslide from Donovan’s Reef. Be sure to stop by the iconic Flying Horses Carousel — and if you ride, try your luck at grabbing the brass ring, a Vineyard tradition. Take time to enjoy the incredible views around every corner — it’s a place that’s meant to be experienced slowly, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
