Hector and I started dating at Clemson. Hector complements me in all the best ways, but we found common ground in our love for college football, the Lowcountry, Thai and Mexican food, and our families. Since the end of our days running around College Avenue, we've moved from city to city (together and apart) in SC, become dog-parents, started new jobs/schools, and done a lot of growing up in all of the really fun (and some of the not-so-fun) ways. Right now, Hector's in Columbia, SC getting his MBA and I'm in medical school in Greenville, SC. We spend a lot of our weekends making the short drive between the two cities, pulling our shamefully spoiled Basset hound, Terri, around in her wagon to the respective city's nearest park/restaurant/brewery. Anyway, all that to say, I'm the luckiest person alive to have spent the last four years growing up with my best friend on the planet, and somehow luckier still that he wants to keep doing it for the rest of our lives! We're so excited to bring together all the most important people in our lives together for our wedding this December. I may be biased, but it's hard to imagine a better event than Hector's massive Mexican family of the most loving, welcoming people you'll ever meet under the same roof as the adoring, exuberant McEwan/Van Metre tribe from my side (who all happen to love a good party). We'll both be finishing up grad school with plans to move shortly thereafter to whatever city I do residency training in, so we'll have a ton to celebrate. We plan to get married in downtown Charleston at the Summerall Chapel and have a reception at the Creek Club at I'On afterwards.
