To reach Devil’s Bathtub, start your journey in Spearfish, South Dakota, and take West Jackson Boulevard (Highway 14A) until you reach the stoplight marking the intersection of US-85 S/N Main St and US-14A E marking the beginning of Spearfish Canyon. Turn onto US-14A E and continue for approximately 15 miles until you reach the parking lot near mile marker 28 on the left side of the road. Devil’s Bathtub is one of the most rewarding hikes in Spearfish Canyon. About a 10-15 minute drive from the stoplight in Spearfish that marks the beginning of the canyon, the entire hike can be done and over with within an hour or can be stretched out to last the entire afternoon, depending on your hiking experience.

Admission to the Hatchery grounds is always free. Visitors are welcome to stroll the hatchery grounds from dawn to dusk any day of the week, 365 days a year. The Pond Gift Shop, The National Fish Hatchery Museum, Railcar, and Booth House are open daily during the summer season from mid-May through the end of September. Tours through the historic buildings are available daily, 9 am – 6 pm.
