Our Story

Mr. & Mrs. Bret Miller of Fulshear, TX and Mr. & Mrs. John Arterberry of Ponder, TX announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Kylie Brooke Miller and Reese John Howard Arterberry. The couple were recently engaged on the Hawaiian Island of Maui at Oneloa Beach. They met in college, living just a few steps apart as next-door neighbors, but God had something much bigger in store. What began as smiles and friendly chats quickly turned into something magical when he started showing up at her door with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and coming over to open her pickle jars whenever she would call and ask. Those sweet gestures sparked a connection that grew deeper with every conversation, every laugh, and every late-night snack. Three and a half years later, their love story is still going strong and now they’re engaged and ready to spend forever together. They enjoy traveling together to visit their grandparents’ farms and ranches and on family vacations together to the beaches of Alabama and Grand Cayman. They are both avid readers and spend time just soaking up fiction books when they aren’t knee deep in academia. When they don’t have their noses in books, they can be found on a pickleball court or playing an intense game of ping pong. They are both competitive first-born children who have fun pushing each other to be their very best (although I suspect he might throw a game now and then just to make her smile-he will deny this as not to blow his cover lol). They attended Christ Global Methodist Church in College Station together and enjoyed lunch together every Sunday at Gringo’s. Reese was a wonderful supporter of Kylie when she was a part of the ADPi sorority and had responsibilities that could use a cute guy with a pickup truck to help solve. They made a lot of fun memories at the many themed date parties, formals, and semi-formal dances. Most notably they went to their Aggie Ring Dance together and celebrated getting their Aggie rings as well. Kylie has been known to be Reese’s fashion designer, picking out his outfits for football games, dances, and last-minute job interviews. He takes her advice more than anyone else’s and gladly plays along with all of her fun ideas. They are wonderful study buddies spending endless hours in coffee shops and libraries soaking up knowledge in their fields of study. They celebrated their graduations from Texas A&M University just a day apart in December of 2024. Now they run up and down I-35 between Ponder and Round Rock while Kylie is finishing up nursing school. The families have vacationed, gone to sporting events, saw George Strait at Kyle Field, spent holidays, and celebrated birthdays and graduations together. Their mothers seem to always be picking up cakes together from a local baker for the next celebration. One of their favorite times all together each year is the Christmas Eve candlelight hymn sing along at the Ponder Global Methodist Church. Most recently the families had a lot of fun planning a surprise reception at the groom’s parents’ home upon their return from Hawaii with a second surprise later that evening at the Fort Worth Stockyards at the historic Joe T. Garcia’s restaurant and gardens where they were feted with a surprise engagement party with parents, brothers, grandparents, and close college friends in attendance. Proud grandparents are Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Miller of Needville, TX, Mr. & Mrs. Carlton Bolting of Yorktown, TX, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Arterberry of Tuttle, OK, and Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Wix of Disney, OK. Proud great-grandmother is Georgia Lee Arterberry of Tuttle, OK. The couple would appreciate prayers over their relationship and careers as they build a life together. Their love story is still unfolding. “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:14
