Like many modern love stories, ours began with a swipe—during the chaos of COVID lockdowns, we matched on Tinder. What started as simple conversation quickly became something more. After two months of late-night chats and getting to know each other virtually, we finally decided to meet in person. Our first date was at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. We wandered around, had coffee, and talked... well, I (Reese) nervously talked a bit too much about a giant construction hole in the ground! Meanwhile, Ben wore his sunglasses the entire time, which I still lovingly tease him about. Despite the nerves, the moment we saw each other, something just clicked. It felt comfortable, natural—like we were meant to meet. That very night, Ben asked me to be his girlfriend. He just knew. And honestly, so did I. From the start, we shared a love for travel, adventure, and all things Disney. But more than that, we shared dreams and values that made it easy to keep choosing each other every day. Over the last five years, we’ve grown together—from 18 and 21 to who we are today. We’ve laughed, supported each other through challenges, and created memories that we’ll cherish forever. One of the most beautiful of those memories? Ben proposed on the 27th of December 2024, on Blouberg Strand in Cape Town. The ocean, the view, the moment—it was simply perfect. From that first date to this very day, it’s been an unforgettable journey. And now, we can’t wait to start this next chapter as husband and wife.
