On April 13th, Gunjan and Reena met through mutual friends during a night out in Charlotte. They didn't speak to one another until Palak pulled Reena to the side to take a green tea shot. As Reena left, Gunjan pulled her back in for another green tea shot. With a little liquid encouragement, they spent the rest of the night talking. At the end of the night, both went their separate ways... Reena wouldn't have thought twice about Gunjan until he slid into her DM's on Instagram the next day. Reena decided she was not interested in Gunjan, but Ashmira had other plans. She immediately took the phone and messaged him back (pretending to be Reena). Don't worry, that didn't last long. After a few days of messaging back and forth, Gunjan asked Reena for her number. She said no! He said yes! And eventually they became friends. Gunjan asked Reena out on countless dates. Every time, she said no and asked to hang out casually amongst friends. Without fail, Gunjan never brought friends and Reena only brought her two sisters, Ashmira and Anjali. Gunjan didn't get the hint that Reena was still not interested. But he never gave up. Through countless dates with Reena and her sisters, Gunjan never gave up. On May 2nd, Reena finally said yes to a real date with Gunjan... without her sisters! They started the afternoon by going to the airport lookout to watch the planes take-off and land. The next stop was to the gas station where Reena sneakily paid and filled up gas in Gunjan's Range Rover. This detail is especially important as it was Reena's way of contributing to the date, even if it bothered Gunjan, and yet, left a lasting impression - one that he would later mention to his mom. Eventually, the two made it to River Jam, at the US National White Water Center, where the two had a couple of beers, listened to live music, and spent the entire night walking the park. The night ended with fireworks and sparks were finally flying!

Kicking-off their National Park road-trip, Gunjan and Reena flew in to Las Vegas. There was late night "secret" pizza, a tutorial on how to drive and manage an RV, and of course, In-N-Out Burger, all before embarking on their 10-day adventure! Day 1: The first stop was Valley of Fire State Park, where the two enjoyed hiking through a slot canyon, taking pictures with the polaroid camera against the red rocks, and breathtaking views of the landscape as they made their way to Zion National Park. Day 2: The two were supposed to hike Angel's Landing, one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. But Mother Nature had other plans in mind - RAIN, and lot's of it! Instead of hiking through the National Park, the two ended up watching Netflix in the back of the RV. Gunjan, scrambling to figure out how the two can make the hike in the rain, and that day, so that his upcoming plans wouldn't be ruined, was simply not possible. It was non-stop rain and the conditions were not ideal, yet, Gunjan did not give up. He managed to spark multiple, yet harmless fights in the back of that RV. Needless to say, they did not hike Angel's Landing that day, but managed to enter the park at sunset to scope out the trail maps at the Welcome Center. That evening, Gunjan continued to scramble - sending multiple text messages to the photographer to coordinate the surprise proposal - all while Reena was concerned with how to shower at the campsite... not a clue in sight! Day 3: Gunjan wanted to hike Canyon Overlook to catch the sunrise. Reena wanted to hike Angel's Landing, since they missed their chance the day before. Gunjan never makes a plan and always goes with the flow, while Reena is the opposite and always sticks to the plan, but not today. She wanted to go with the flow and make sure they had a chance to hike Angel's Landing before leaving the park. Scrambling, Gunjan picks yet another fight to ensure his plans do not get ruined. Frustrated through it all, Reena fought back but didn't win the battle. Before packing up the RV, Gunjan uses the bathroom at the campsite to take what is called, "A NERVOUS SHIT!" And yes, this moment was documented and sent to everyone, but Reena. The two packed up the RV and entered the park before the 8am rush to catch the sunrise. Driving up the windy roads, the two realize they must drive back down to obtain a pass for the RV to enter the narrow tunnel up ahead. Back down the mountain they go and Gunjan's stress level continues to rise as his plans begin to foil. Fast-forward, the two finally park the RV and begin the hike to Canyon Overlook. Along the hike, Reena is ahead taking pictures and minding her business as the two had yet another small fight. As they reached the top and took in the breathtaking views of the canyon, Gunjan began to panic - they missed the sunrise. Reena didn't care and simply wanted to take a memorable picture with her polaroid - if you know Reena, then you know that polaroid picture is the most important thing to her. After wasting what felt like a lifetime on taking pictures, Gunjan finally got Reena to come to the side to view the canyon from a different vantage point. Reena, clueless as ever, began assembling the tripod to take more pictures. The Proposal: As Reena is fumbling to get the tripod assembled and in place, Gunjan is behind her, on one knee. Gunjan says, "OKAY, I'M DOING THIS." Reena, still turned around, and frustrated at this point, turns around and yells, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" And in that moment, she see's Gunjan on one knee and is in complete shock because he pulled off the surprise proposal. Gunjan exchanges sweet words and places the ring on Reena's finger. The photographer pops out and has captured the entire moment leading up to the proposal. The surprises continue as Gunjan has planned a private photo shoot session at the top of the hike, with the canyon in the background. WHAT AN EPIC PROPOSAL! And yes, they hiked Angel's Landing the next day.
