How We Met

They met on Tinder...and it actually worked out! Rebecca and Jonathan's first conversations happened on Tinder after Jonathan's initial message: "So should we announce a date for the wedding?" Rebecca rolled her eyes, but decided to go with it. "Sure! We have a lot of planning to do. But all I really want to do is go to the cake tasting. The rest is too much effort." A few more cringe worthy messages were exchanged, and they had decided on gold table cloths for the reception, and that they should actually probably go on a date. On March 21, 2018, Jonathan and Rebecca were talking about possibly getting together for dinner. It had snowed that day, and Rebecca had been stuck in her apartment all day. In typical Maryland fashion, all of the snow had melted by the end of the day, and it was hardly cold enough to wear a winter jacket. Rebecca decided it was safe for her to drive into the city to meet Jonathan for dinner. They decided on the restaurant, Blue Agave, in Fed Hill. However, it had to be a later dinner because Jonathan had started to set up these dinner plans while at the gym. When Rebecca and Jonathan finally met, Rebecca was starving, and was very excited to find that the kind people at Blue Agave put chips down on the table as soon as you walk in. They ate dinner, and talked for hours. By the end of dinner, both of their faces hurt from smiling so much. Two short days after their first date, they had another dinner planned. And, as the cliché goes, the rest is history!

How He Proposed

Jonathan and Rebecca talked about getting engaged for a while, but Jonathan just needed to find the right time. In January of 2020, Jonathan picked out and bought a ring. He was so excited to plan an engagement, and surprise his soon-to-be fiancé. In March, Covid-19 came along, but Jonathan decided not to let a crazy situation ruin his plans to ask Rebecca to marry him. The couple got a puppy, Misty, who is the cutest black lab-retriever in all of Baltimore. Rebecca took Misty for long walks to the park everyday around noon. Jonathan decided to take advantage of this alone time to plan his surprise for her. Eventually, he decided to decorate their roof deck, and propose just after the sun went down. Soon, random Amazon packages starting arriving to the house. Rebecca kept asking about the packages, and Jonathan insisted they were part of a Christmas present he was making for her. Despite any and all common sense, Rebecca started to believe him. As the days went on, Jonathan planned how he would decorate the deck, and began to put things in place that would make it easy to set it all up quickly. On May 26, Jonathan asked Rebecca's friend, Cara, to FaceTime her around 7:00pm so he could set up the proposal. Rebecca and Cara talked for a while. Sometime into their conversation, Jonathan texted Rebecca and asked her if she could bring him a drink up to his office on the third floor of their house. Rebecca texted back, "No. I'm on the phone." Shortly after that, a distracted Cara told Rebecca that her dad had texted her, and she needed to go call him to talk. She needs to call her dad at 9pm? Weird, but ok! Rebecca felt bad about her earlier response to Jonathan's text, so she decided to bring him a drink. When she got to Jonathan's office, he wasn't there. She opened the door to their roof deck, and there, under twinkling lights and a beautifully decorated deck, was Jonathan down on one knee. He asked if she would marry him, and of course she said yes!
