Take a drive down Kananaskis Trail (Hwy 40) or Smith Dorrien Trail (Hwy 742) and take in the breathtaking views. If you need a destination Kananaskis Lakes is a great one!
Check out the famous icy blue lake, go for a hike, have lunch at the Fairmont, or ride the gondola up the ski resort for aerial views of the lake and mountains - along with possible (and often likely) bear sightings. Beware the parking lot fills up EARLY these days, but there are plenty of shuttles from the overflow parking lot just down the road or straight from the town of Canmore or Banff. Just up the road from Lake Louise is another beautiful lake. Moraine is a little trickier to get to as the parking lot is no longer accessible and you'll need to take a shuttle bus but it is definitely worth the hype.
There are so many mountain-surrounded golf courses in the area to check out. A few notable ones include Kananaskis Country, Silvertip, and of course, Canmore Golf and Curling Club, where we'll be holding the wedding!
We can't even begin to list all the hiking trails in the area. Whether you're seeking challenging summits or a leisurely stroll, there's something for everyone, and the views are absolutely unmatched. If you're interested, let us know, and we can recommend some of our favorites.
Take a stroll through the charming streets of downtown Canmore or Banff and check out all the cute local shops and art galleries.
