We are eternally grateful for Bumble. If it weren't for the infamous dating app, we would've never met. In November 2017 we matched! However, it took us over four weeks to finally meet up. We both bounced back and forth with travel. From New York to LA to Thailand and Cambodia. We texted, called, Facetimed -- for four straight week's until FINALLY we were both in Portland. On our first date we blew off our fancy dinner reservations for takeout Mexican, long conversation, and lots of doggie treats for Munchie. It wasn't long before Reed asked Jon to be her boyfriend and sooner than later we found ourselves in love and living together in NE Portland.
That's how it started. We decided three weeks before take-off that we were making this trip happen and at that exact moment I knew I would pop the question while we were there. I spent the next three weeks plotting with Omar over "secret dinners" on how I could expedite the ring creation process and surprise Reed in one of the most incredible places on earth, Lake Louise. After many close calls of my plan being spoiled, including one nosey TSA agent, I surprised Reed two hundred feet up a frozen waterfall over-looking the beautiful lake. We then spent the rest of our trip celebrating our engagement in the Canadian wilderness by day, eating below average indian & mexican food and trying to contact family back home through intermittent wifi by night. It was the perfect trip.
When we sat down to plan out this amazing weekend, we kept coming back to the same thing... we want this weekend to represent everything about who we are and what we believe in. That obviously starts with the amazing support system around us, but also includes our passion for nature with our disdain for certain modern-day traditions. This weekend will be all about spending time with those we love most (YOU ALL!), while ensuring nothing was included just because "that's how weddings are supposed to be". So we hope that you join us on this journey and keep an open mind. You'll feel this come to life right from the start where we've replaced the rehearsal dinner with an informal hangout with those already in town around the campfire of a local brewery. It then follows into the big day, with our desert wedding location and fully vegan dinner & desserts. We hope the warm desert air is a welcome reprieve for everyone, and that this feels like a mini-vacation for us all. See you all in Bend!
