Reed and Cath met August 2023 at a friend's 'Revenge of the Sith' watch party. From the moment we saw each other we were drawn to each other. We spent the vast majority of that night in the kitchen of our friend's apartment talking. We discovered that we both lived in Provo, and not only that, but we actually lived 5 minutes away from each other. We connected immediately, but the moment that really cemented our connection was when we said the same thing, at the same time, with the same vocal inflections. After that moment, our fates were sealed. When the night had come to a close, Cath asked Reed for his instagram where he later asked for her number, and then asked Cath on a date for the following Sunday. Reed would set up a picnic, and Cath would grab a bottle of wine to share. The wine turned into hard kombucha, and Cath also bought and arranged fresh flowers to bring as a gift for Reed. Along with three beautifully arranged plates of fruits, vegetables, crackers and cheese, Reed had brought a conversation card game. We sat and asked each other questions about our hobbies, interests, opinions on current events, feelings and histories, and we found that we were shockingly similar, and very aligned on topics that really matter. This first date set off the chain of events that would lead to our marriage, and to this day it was the best first date either of us had ever had.
