Trent and Katie met on their very first day at Black Hills State University. Their dorm held a welcoming party after everyone was all moved in and settled. Trent approached Katie and her group of friends introducing himself as the social butterfly he is. Trent and Katie exchanged snapchats and became friends. At first, Katie was nervous and hesitant to get to know Trent. It wasn't until her best friends, Gracie and Molly, convinced her to go on a date with Trent. Trent was a trooper as many of their first dates included a plus one. After a breakfast date to the Millstone in Spearfish, Katie soon realized the cute football player from Nebraska was her person. Trent finally won Katie over on February 20th, 2020. And the rest is history!
Katie and Trent were on a Caribbean Cruise with both of their families. It was the first night and after dinner it was decided they needed to take family pictures. Katie found a beautiful spot on the cruise ship that she thought would be great for pictures. It was Katie and Trent’s turn for couple pictures when they were told to turn back to back for a “funny” picture. Trent snuck away and got down on one knee. Instantly there was an abundance of clapping and cheering from a crowd that gathered. Katie turned around and was SO surprised. Trent asked and, of course, with tears in her eyes, Katie said YES. It was the most special moment shared with their closest loved ones.
