How We Met

05.18.17 "Music helped us fall in love"

His Version: We we're both scheduled to play a set at the same showcase, Controllerise, where it all started. The day before I came across her Instagram, liked a few photos and thought to myself: "she's cute" and went about my day looking forward to doing the show the next night. I showed up early, slightly nervous because this was my very first beat set ever, and who's the first person I see? You guessed it, Rah! I played it cool long enough to set up my laptop and pull out headphones like I was about to start working, catching glances, but kind of acting like I wasn't even looking. Before I got lost in going over my beat set I decided to walk up to her and introduce myself. I extended my hand for a handshake and she stopped me, saying no, she does hugs, which I gladly obliged. I continued to play cool for most of the evening, offering some words of encouragement, popping in to talk to her here and there but not lingering for too long. After a little back and forth, when the opportunity presented itself, I shot my shot and asked: "so Rah, are you single?" The rest is history. Her version: One day I was scrolling through Instagram and found a dope producer based out of ATL who I thought would be great to interview on my podcast. After reaching out and confirming an interview, he invited me to perform a set at this event called Controllerise. Leading up to the event, I noticed this really attractive bearded man liking a few of my pictures on Instagram. (He scrolled way back ya'll). I then noticed that he was scheduled to perform at the same event as I was. Fast forward, to the day of the event, I immediately noticed him when he walked in and we hugged. A few drinks later, he approached me and asked me "So, are you single, Rah?". I was shocked at how forward he was. I laughed it off, but then 10 minutes later he asked again. My answer is going to permanently be "no I am not single." on October 11, 2020, and I can't wait.

The Proposal

It was a fall October morning, when Reece finally decided, "It's time." With Rah having an early morning meeting that day, Reece decided to cook her favorite breakfast, bought a bouquet of roses, a bottle of champagne and set the mood of their condo to the soundtrack of their favorite song, "Mad About" by Son Little. As Rah walked in their house and up the stairs, she was met with Reece (drenched in sweat) with one knee on the ground and a small black box in hand. Of course she said yes. Following the engagement, they met up with close friends at a nearby restaurant to celebrate the good news.
