After each making a big life change in 2021, both Sarah and Michael decided it was time to dip their toes back in the ever so scary dating pool once again. (It's rough out there, folks.) So, just as any single person does nowadays, they created themselves a profile on the latest trending dating app. Sarah created her profile with thought and wit hoping her true self would leap off the page at a desired suiter. (I know, I just barfed writing that sentence, too.) Michael, on the other hand, created his profile in two minutes with one word responses thinking the whole thing was a joke. I mean, let's be honest, his profile didn't matter. He's a 6'2'' handsome, charismatic guy in Denver, CO. Girls were chomping at the bit to get a date with him. Yet, it didn't stop him from finding Sarah's profile and messaging her first. Sarah wasn't so sure what to think of this guy. Was he serious or just another guy "looking for fun"? Sarah ignored Michael's message for awhile but eventually gave in. His dimples were just too cute!! After a few short messages, Michael bragged about successfully jumping over a stool at work that day. Being SO impressed with his athletic talent, Sarah agreed to a date. How could she not? They met at the corner of Pearl and 6th Ave on a snowy day. Michael let out a cute giggle when they first met at the realization that the girl in the photos was real. (Sarah will never forget that giggle.) The usual awkward first date small talk quickly evolved into comfortable quick witted banter and long talks. There was a short scare during the date when they found out that they had the same birthday. Neither believed the other ("is this person stalking me?") so they had to exchange ID's as proof. It's probably the best birth date of all time so it was a solid pro for both. Later, when Michael had the courage to put his hand on Sarah's knee, Sarah felt a literal spark. Things were going well. After the date, Michael asked if/when he could see Sarah again to which she replied, "I'm free tomorrow." Blown away by Sarah's honesty and transparency, Michael cancelled the rest of his dates that week and the rest is history. Since meeting, Sarah and Michael haven't spent much time apart. Life is just better when they're together. They're happier, calmer, and have more fun. They've learned that they partner well together in difficult situations, that they support and balance each other in stressful situations, that they can accomplish challenging things together (like, the most challenging landscape project of all time, lol), and, most importantly, that they can be authentically themselves with the other. So, it didn't take long to figure out that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
