Visa Information

You don’t need a visa in advance to enter Ethiopia with an American passport, but we recommend getting one ahead of time to make your arrival smoother. You can apply online on the Ethiopian Embassy website. If you choose to get your visa on arrival, just be sure to bring U.S. dollars in cash. Exact change will make things easier, but they can give you change in Ethiopian birr if needed.
