In the summer of 2011, Erika came up to Denton from San Antonio to shop for apartments. She and her friend, Brittany, decided to check out the nightlife by heading out to Fry Street. They stepped into a little bar called SideBar. While there, Erika struck up a conversation with Rob, who was also out that night. Eventually, they both went to Rockin' Rodeo, a small country dance hall in Denton. Rob shared with Erika that he was a police officer at Texas Woman's University where Erika was to attend graduate school in the fall. Together they danced and drank and eventually agreed to exchange numbers. Unfortunately, neither of them got in contact with each other after that night. Fast forward 6 months later, Erika was deeply buried in graduate studies at school, and Rob was still working at TWU. On November 10th, Erika was leaving TWU to head home for the night. She turned left onto Bell Avenue, and started driving home...a little too quickly. Erika didn't get very far down the hill before she noticed red and blue flashing lights behind her. She turned onto a side street, and to her surprise, it was Rob pulling her over. Eventually, Rob recognized her, and he said "I know where I remember you from - we hung out over the summer at Rockin' Rodeo". Erika, playing it cool, said "Oh really? I don't remember that!" (face palm). Rob ended up letting Erika go with a warning, much to her relief. The next evening, Erika went out to Fry Street on a blind date. While they were hanging out at Lucky Lou's, Erika noticed a tall, handsome man staring at her over by the bar. Turns out, it was Rob, who was also out on Fry Street. After a few more drinks, Erika abandoned her blind date in search of the tall policeman. She eventually found him and said, "Well, we should probably exchange numbers again since we keep running into each other." About a month and a half later, Rob asked Erika to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history. Rob proposed to Erika on Christmas Day in 2018. <3
