Lucien and I met in the most romantic place on earth: a dating app. More poetically though, we first met at the airport because we (mostly me, let’s be real) are crazy people. Lucien and I matched on Hinge shortly before I was traveling for a dance event and then for a dear friend’s wedding. In that time, we spent at least six hours talking over the phone and messaging back and forth during any free moment there was. We clicked in ways I didn’t know were possible, and we both rapidly became enamored with the ways we made each other feel profoundly understood, the ways we could make each other laugh, and the ways that yes, it really could be that easy. I couldn’t wait another moment to meet him. I boldly suggested he pick me up from the airport and that we have our first date right away. Luckily, Lucien is also a bit crazy, and so he did. Within the week, he helped me move, met most of my friends, and I met his family (semi-unintentionally, but yes, really!) I am still in awe of how quickly I managed to fall in love with this man, but anyone who knows him gets it. He’s lovable as hell!! Anyways, we’re getting married now. I could keep going on and on about all the reasons I love Lucien, but I’ll save it for the wedding. I can’t wait to see you all there.
Once upon a time, I went absolutely crazy for a girl on Hinge. If you're like me, you probably know the feeling. You start poring over every word, zooming in on every picture, and building up an impossible fantasy of who this person will be. But then you go on dates and after awhile you realize you're dating a real person who can't possibly live up to that fantasy. Well, nobody gave Becca the memo. I've never had a fantasy that could hold a candle to the reality of her. We met in the waning months of summer and by the end of Fall we were in New York together watching the leaves in Central Park. At that point I was already falling deeply in love with her, but I was afraid to say anything. Love had never come so fast or so easily. I swear I was looking for something wrong with her just to try and counteract the endless current of laughter, kindness, and passion for life that was sweeping me away into my inevitable future with her. Best I could come up with was "she likes to travel more than me." But guess what? Turns out I like it too! I've now been to five more countries than when we first met and Becca is as awesome to spend time with on a beach in Spain as she is at home on the couch. Pretty sure I'm not gonna find a circumstance where she falls short of my fantasies but we should probably check a couple more countries just in case...
