Our favorite place to grab a beer and play board games outside with friends. They have over 30 beers on tap and a full service bar.
A great taco place with gourmet taco options. There are multiple locations for this one! Some of our favorite menu items are #18 Chicken & Waffle Taco, #3 Chicken Tikka Masala Taco, #11 Grilled Flank Steak Taco, #16 Fish n' Chips Taco, and all of their Sides options.
Another great taco place in the Heights. Some of our favorite menu items are the Falafel Taco, the Lamb Keema Taco, the South Texas Rice Bowl, or the Mediterranean Rice Bowl. If you order online for pickup, the margaritas are free!
One of our favorite places to grab brunch on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Most weekends, they have an open-air market in the parking lot selling local goods like honey, jam, soap, candles, and handmade jewelry.
For a GREAT view of the Houston Skyline at sunset, try arriving roughly 1-1.5 hours before sunset and getting a table on the 3rd floor where they have a large open-air patio. They have a limited food menu on that floor, but you can still get some great bar bites and choose from their full selection of brews, plus the view is so worth it!
One of our favorite middle eastern restaurants with authentic Turkish cuisine. We recommend the Doner Sandwiches and Peynirli Pide.
A great authentic Persian-style middle eastern restaurant. You can't go wrong with any of their kabobs. Shakar recommends the Ghormeh Sabzi, a sour and savory herb and beef stew with kidney beans. If you are interested in trying a traditional middle eastern beverage, try the Ayran or Yogurt Water drink, a home-made salted yogurt drink. I was skeptical when I first met Shakar, but quickly came to love it. If you're not feeling so adventurous, try some tea!
I have always loved going to zoos and the Houston Zoo is no exception. We are Houston Zoo members and go fairly frequently. Bonus: It is one of the few places in Houston with free parking!
If you enjoy biking, you can rent a city bike and enjoy miles of biking through Buffalo Bayou Park with amazing views of Downtown.
Houston's oldest professional theatre and a lovely place to spend an evening out. We have never been disappointed by a show we've seen here!
I definitely think it is worth the extra $12 for the Cockrell Butterfly Center!
We came here for our second date and our 1 year anniversary. It has a great family-friendly atmosphere and is a nice place to spend a few hours on a warm sunny day. We do NOT recommend the Boardwalk Bullet roller coaster unless you want a serious headache. We made the same mistake both times we went and wouldn't wish the pain on our worst enemies! If you do go to Kemah, we recommend Tookie's Burgers for great burgers and boozy milkshakes :)
