Josh and Rebekah met how most millennials meet these days, online dating. They had their first date at Pig's Eye Pub, Josh arrived in his signature black T, gold cross, Chippewa's and big truck. It was a sealed deal ever since.
The story starts with Josh taking Rebekah to a very nice steakhouse for dinner. They had plans to go to Eastbury pond to take Christmas photos after. They’ve been doing this as a ritual every year since they started dating. During dinner, Josh was nervously taking calls and constantly getting up. Rebekah, not suspicious at all, just happily ate and drank. After an indulgent dinner at Flemings and a delay due to multiple courses and espresso martinis, Rebekah was finally filled and ready to leave. Unbeknownst to Rebekah, Josh had orchestrated a surprise proposal at Eastbury pond where he had a photographer waiting in 20 degree temps this entire time to surprise them with a photo shoot. As they arrived at the park, Josh’s parents were parked right at the entrance hiding to surprise them after their engagement, good thing for those martinis Rebekah didn't notice a thing! Josh took Rebekah onto the property, fake tripped on a cord and plugged in a sign that says "Marry Me." Rebekah was initially oblivious because she was more concerned about trespassing on the property and where’d the plug go that Josh tripped over. Josh then pointed out to Rebekah the marry me sign, she laughed and looked around for the happy couple. Josh then realized "the lights were on, but no one was home", already on one knee he pulled out a ring in an illuminated ring box and said "Rebekah I love you with all my life, will you marry me?" To which she responded with more hysterical laughter thinking Josh is just being funny, there must be a ring pop in that box. Josh responded by telling Rebekah “no Rebekah, this is the real deal.” He told her to put the ring on! As he did, speakers started blaring marry me by Jason Derulo as Josh's parents, the homeowners of the property and the photographer jumped out to congratulate the couple. In the end Rebekah finally realized Josh proposed and told him yes as he was passed out asleep later that night.
