We met in high school, where we were required to sit by one another in French class. Diego never stopped making Rebekah laugh, while Diego was convinced Rebekah hated him. A couple years later, Diego sat at the same lunch table as Rebekah and asked if she liked to play phone games. This led us to become the best of friends during Rebekah’s junior year and Diego’s senior year of high school. Eventually we went on a camping trip with friends Damini and Lucy (a very terribly planned camping trip) where we decided that it was time to give it a shot at dating. We realized that we were able to have so much fun together even when things were rough. For context, we ate hot dogs off of a rusty screwdriver and Diego did not pack any blankets even though it was 20 degrees outside. We have experienced so much of each other’s lives together, growing every step of the way. We started out in high school, but we eventually made it through long distance while Rebekah was in undergrad at UNT and Diego was working full time in the Austin area. After handling the chaos that was the pandemic together, we added our sweet and cuddly rabbit, Nibbles, to our little family. Diego was also Rebekah’s biggest supporter when she chose to go to law school. After enduring our second bout of long distance, Diego decided to make a job change and move to Fort Worth in Rebekah’s last year of law school. Being together as our little family unit made work and preparing for the bar easier for us to bear. Fast forward to today, where we are still growing. We have already planned to love and support each other for the rest of our lives, but we cannot wait to celebrate with close friends and family who have been with us every step of the way. After more than nine years together, we can’t wait to celebrate the love we’ve built with our loved ones by our side.
