How We Met

09/02/2020 - THAT One Provo Couple

"It was the first week of fall semester and I wanted to go to institute because I knew the teacher very well. We have similar senses of humor, so I chose to sit on the front row, all the better to joke with him during the class. Then this cute guy sat two seats down from me before class started. The first thing I noticed after how cute he was, was how focused and deep his eyes were. I wanted to know what was behind those eyes."- R "I wanted to go to institute for personal spiritual reasons, as well as meet lots of girls to date and make friends. I walked in and saw this really cute back of the head on the front row and thought, 'oh, I wouldn't mind sitting next to that really cute back-of-the head!' I didn't want to be too presumptuous and sit right next to her, but I was very happy to move over a seat when class discussions started." - C "As we talked, I was impressed by his obvious intelligence and emotional insight into the material we were discussing that night. It became very easy to get lost in our conversations, and when class ended, I decided he was going to walk me home so we could keep talking. Also, when Coy stood up it was obvious he was taller than me which is always a nice plus haha!" - R "I felt so valued when she cut through the crowd to find me again and picked up our conversation right where we'd left it. As we talked, it was wonderful to get to know her, but there was definitely an undercurrent of interest. Let's just say we were both walking slowly, and I was particularly taken by her bright eyes in the moonlight. Learning that she was also interested in doing law was the perfect excuse to get her number and see her again that Saturday. Looking back, I'm very grateful I met her that night." - C

Last First Kiss

10/27/2019

"After getting back to her apartment in Provo after a wonderful Sunday dinner, her roommate informed us that she was going to have a boy over for a movie, but we were not ready to say goodbye. So we piled up some pillows and blankets at the kitchen table. As we were talking, I finally told her how much I loved her. " - C “When he said he loved me, I knew how much it meant for him to say that. We hadn’t only waited to say those words to each other, we had also waited to kiss each other because we knew we wanted to focus on the emotional side of our relationship first. And knowing Coy, I knew that when he heard me say those three little words, it would mean the same to him as his kiss would mean to me due to our different love languages. So I squeezed his hand and told him I love him.” - R "It was exhilarating to hear those words cross her lips! I stared into her eyes and realized I wanted to kiss her. Being the gentleman I am, I asked if I could, and she smiled.” - C “When he asked, I figured words would just get in the way so I leaned forward and finally kissed my love.” - R “I am the luckiest man on earth! What blessing could be greater, what woman could be more amazing? What love could be more true?" - C

When We Knew

"I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun"

We both fell so slowly in love that neither of us can fix the day when we knew we could not live without the other. But being the planners we are, and admiring each others' hearts and minds as we do, we sat down and talked about the futures that we envisioned for ourselves back in mid-January. We wanted the best for the other. We still do. Joyfully we learned that the futures we each had come to picture depended on the love, support, and simple presence of the other. Eternity will not be enough time.

The Proposal

03/29/2020 - A tale of two brothers

"After helping Coy design the ring, I asked that he propose when I was photo ready: dressed up with makeup. Also, it was important to me that he surprise me. As intelligent as Coy is, he later told me that this presented a conundrum because, 'How do you convince the Rebekah to casually dress up without sounding suspicious?' Luckily, Coy's younger brother, McKay, also had a serious girlfriend so Coy decided to get family and friends to help convince me that I was going to help McKay propose to Lydia! Coy asked for permission to do this, and McKay thought it was such a good idea that he decided to propose on the same day and tell his now-wife the same thing, that she would help Coy propose to me. Side note - Lydia is such a wonderful sister, I love her muchly. "Though Coy and McKay both did their best, lying does not come naturally to either of them. Lydia and I had our suspicions that the proposal we would be helping was in fact, for us. The night before, I even wrote in my journal all the reasons why I thought Coy might propose the next day, ending with '...I'm writing all this down so I can prove to Coy that I knew all along. And I'll tell you something else because you're a journal and can't tell anyone - when it turned 11:11 tonight, my wish was that Coy will propose tomorrow.' I couldn't wait to call him my fiance." - R "It was a pretty great day ;-) I was over the moon to know that I would get Rebekah forever and ever, all to myself!" - C
