Both! Our wedding ceremony will be outdoors under a tent. The reception will be indoors with AC. Guests are free and welcome to spend as much time outside as they want at this venue.
Our ceremony will be "in the manner of Friends", also known as a Quaker Wedding. At a Quaker wedding, the seating will be arranged a little bit differently, and there will not be an officiant. A welcomer will greet all our guests at the beginning of the ceremony and explain the proceedings. At some point, there will be a moment of silence to take in the moment and the sounds of nature around us. Patrick and Rebeckah will stand up out of this silence and exchange vows. They will then sign a wedding certificate. There will be an opportunity during the ceremony for anyone who feels moved to stand and share a few words (think heartfelt toasts). As witnesses to our marriage, all guests will be asked to sign the wedding certificate. Here is a great video that explains quaker weddings in more detail: https://youtu.be/18YfqzHGTp4?si=3EVA77opJu03HSw3
Yes, Ithaca has the Tompkins International Airport. Sadly, flights are limited and only fly domestically between JFK, Washington Dulles, and CVG airport in Kentucky. The next closest airport is Syracuse Hancock International Airport, which has a much better selection of flights.
If you plan to fly to Syracuse Hancock International Airport, you can either take a bus, get a taxi/ ride share, or rent a car from Syracuse to Ithaca. It's about an hour drive from Syracuse to Ithaca. The company OurBus frequently runs from the Syracuse airport directly to downtown Ithaca.
No, but you can take a train to Syracuse from anywhere along the northeast. From there you could take a bus or taxi to Ithaca from Syracuse Regional transportation center.
If you are staying in the hotel block at the Best Western or Country Inn, there will be a bus to take you to the venue and back free of charge. As we get closer to the date we will provide more information! We don't currently know if anyone is staying at the Country Inn, so if you are staying there and would like the bus then please let us know.
Yes, there is plenty of parking at the venue. If need be you may leave your vehicle parked over night at the venue and pick it up the next morning.
You can in fact drive to Ithaca NY. If driving from the Philly area, we recommend taking the Pennsylvania Turnpike and then getting off at Clark's Summit. From there you can then drive on Interstate 81 N. to Whitney Point and take local roads to Ithaca. Similarly, if driving from Virginia you cold just take I-81 all the way north to Whitney Point.
Hotels in the Ithaca area can be expensive, so we suggest looking at different options and booking early. We have secured a room block at the Best Western for a relatively low price (see Travel tab, these are mostly booked up but check in with us if you need a room). If you would like to stay downtown, the Marriott and Hotel Ithaca are good options a short distance away from the beautiful Cascadilla Gorge Trail. Another option is the Country Inn and Suites by Radisson.
Yes there will be frogs in case you were wondering. Don't worry they will stay in the pond.
Yes, you could schedule a taxi with College Town Cab. They have an app that works better than calling them. Also, another Taxi service you can call is Ithaca Dispatch at 607-277-7777. Ithaca is a small city in a rural area, so getting a Uber or Lyft can be a little challenging at times (but usually still possible).
You can email Patrick at padams.infinity[at]gmail.com and Rebeckah at rebeckahfussell[at]gmail.com if you have any other questions. Replace the [at] with an @ before sending the email.
