In 2006, we met as two 16-year-olds working at the Vans store in the Carlsbad mall, where we bonded over the latest sneaker drops and our shared sense of humor. At the time, we were both dating other people, so a relationship was the furthest thing from our minds. But we quickly became friends, sharing shifts and plenty of laughs along the way. Eventually, life led us down different paths, and we lost touch… or so we thought. Fast forward a few years to 2011. Becka took a job at Corner Bakery Café, which just so happened to be right next to Road Runner Sports, where James was working. Fate, or maybe just a love of carbs, brought us back into each other’s lives. One December evening, James invited Becka to a drive-through Christmas Light show. By Christmas night, the sparks were flying—or maybe that was the twinkling lights—and after a group hangout, James went for it and kissed Becka. From that moment on, we've been two peas in a pod. Jump ahead 12 years to June 2024, on a family vacation in Yosemite. As the sun set over Glacier Point, James, who had stealthily coordinated with Becka’s family, led her to a scenic spot to "check out the view." With her dad secretly recording, James told Becka how much he loved their adventures together and how he wanted to keep them going forever. When she caught a glimpse of her dad's phone peeking out from behind a wall, she finally realized what was happening. Without hesitation, she said yes! Now, we’re thrilled to keep this adventure going! From building a family to celebrating each other’s wins, we’re ready to take on the world—together, with love, laughter, and plenty of epic memories along the way.
