We are so excited to start our life together as husband and wife, and are honored for you to share in our special day with us!

Ty and I actually shared our very first college class together. We didn't say a word to one another, only a few smiles back and forth! Despite the small campus, we didn't seem to cross paths, and didn't have the same friend group at all. Little did I know, Ty was looking for any type of connection to me throughout that year. Fast forward to finals week of Sophomore year, we both had the same idea to get a late night coffee from our campus coffee shop. I walked in covered in snow, my hood up, and had baggy sweatpants and furry snowboots on; looking absolutely ridiculous. Yet, Ty was right in the doorway and gave me a biiiig smile. Ironically, my swipe wasn't working and Ty, being the opportunistic person he is, saw this as his chance and offered to buy my coffee! I giddily said "oh no it's fine it will work here in a second". Ty walked away thinking "welp there it went" until I DM'd him later that night on Instagram and thanked him for the offer. From there we dated... not once...not twice.. BUT three times (third time's a charm right?). The Lord sure took us on quite a journey, but used each season together and apart to equip us beautifully for our upcoming marriage! We couldn't be more excited to start our life together as husband and wife, and are praising the Lord for how faithful He has been to us!

This day was full of secrets and surprises! I was home in Michigan, and believed Ty was back in Indiana fishing in a bass tournament. The morning of the proposal (aka, the "bass tourney"), I was asking him all sorts of detail questions about his morning out on the water. Typically, he is a man of detail when talking about fish, BUT he was being very vague. I remember thinking, "hmm, weird, maybe he isn't there.. but maybe he is." I then started playing mind games with myself ALL day long. "Oh my gosh maybe he is here". "Nooo, he isn't proposing", "but maybe he is." My mom (obviously knowing the whole plan) did such a good job of just going with my dialogue all day. Little did I know, Ty and my mom were texting all day long, and he was in Holland (where I live) ALL day with his brother and sister in law, and my mom took me to Saugatuck (another beach town close) to get me away!! I was hoping he was there, but didn't want to be disappointed if he wasn't! That night, my parents took me out for a nice dinner, and all of dinner I just keep going on and on about how it would be a perfect night to get engaged. The weather was perfect, and so was the sky!! (my poor parents :)) My parents took me to Riley Beach (where Ty and I first said 'I love you'). Ty sent my mom a text saying, "the sky is perfect, go ahead and come". At this point, I convinced myself he wasn't here, so when I walked up the dune, and saw him standing there with a rose looking SO handsome, I about fell backwards on the dune because I knew what was about to happen!! He said, "Hiii babe", grabbed my arm, and walked me to this perfect spot with the backdrop of the beautiful sunset. He got down on his knee, I squealed "YES", and jumped into his arms before he even made it off his knee! We were both giddy as ever, and I think a little bit in shock. It was a perfect evening, and Ty absolutely blew my socks off in surprising me.
