Toni and Rebecca met in March of 2025 at an FCNL Quaker lobbying event in Washington, D.C. Rebecca had traveled from Louisiana, where she was living at the time, and Toni had come from Michigan. What began as a simple introduction quickly turned into an easy connection. After the event, they decided to spend more time together, sharing dinner and talking for hours. Later, they walked the National Mall under the glowing monuments, continuing their conversation until the early morning. That night marked the beginning of something meaningful—two people from different places meeting unexpectedly and choosing to get to know each other more.
