It was Labor Day weekend of 2018, and Becca was moving into her college apartment to start her fourth and final year at Plymouth State University. Sam was spending the weekend at his family property at Stone Pond. Becca and her friends spent their downtime as they typically did, swiping on Tinder and showing off notable profiles. It was this weekend, however, when Becca accidentally super-liked Sam's Tinder profile. Luckily, they had both been swiping that day because Sam responded almost instantly. The conversation started as Tinder conversations usually did; he asked about the giant flute photo (the contrabass flute.) They then chatted about music, favorite activities, barbering, and how they should meet. Becca and Sam are both ambitious in making plans and had initially planned to meet at Mount Major as their Tinder Date. They both realized hiking with a stranger was a bad idea and first arranged to meet at Monte Alto, the local coffee shop. When the two had met at Monte Alto, Sam had gone in for a hug almost immediately. He pulled himself away for a handshake but gave Becca another hug immediately after. The conversation went so smoothly that they chatted over coffee for over two hours. Becca planted a few friends in the coffee shop to ensure backup in case anything happened, but the date was going so well that they had decided to leave. Before leaving, Emily had pretended to trip into Sam, yelling, "My urinary catheter!" The fact that Sam continued to grow a relationship with Becca despite the strange humor of her and her friends was a green flag. Becca and Sam's relationship grew beautifully, with Becca moving in with him within a few months and then adopting their first cat a few months later. Sam provided Becca with a roof and a quiet study area, and Becca provided cleaning and cooking in return. The two felt a steady and healthy relationship, which led to the life they lead today with the same cat, Hamburger, and their other cat, Ouija.
