Summer 2017 Rebecca went on her first mission trip with the Chi Alpha Campus Ministry at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. On this mission trip she grew closer with God, and also met Riley. Lucky for Riley, she added him on Facebook as soon as she got home (along with all the other friends she made in Utah). That day happened to be her birthday which gave him an excuse to speak to her. Since May 21, 2017 they have not gone a day without speaking. She was not looking and he caught her by surprise. He won her over with his witty humor and more importantly his unwavering love for God. They began a long distance friendship until December 2017 when Rebecca flew to Utah to visit him. There Riley officially asked her to be his girlfriend. A week later she flew back home and a long distance relationship remained. They would take turns flying to see each other every 3 months. Each week long trip together was like a dream, and so much fun. While we were apart, Riley earned his bachelor's degree in Philosophy at Utah Valley University and worked with his universities Chi Alpha. In August 2019 Riley moved to Monroe, Louisiana to pursue a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at ULM, and of course to continue to pursue Rebecca. In Monroe he worked as part time staff for Chi Alpha, as well as part time job on campus, while pursuing his degree. She finished her bachelor's degree in Psychology and got accepted into the Marriage and Family therapy program at ULM. On May 1, 2020 Riley asked her to marry him on a dock by the bayou surrounded by twinkling lights. Of course, she said yes! So here we are, thankful that God has brought us together and provided for us every step of the way. Without our faith in God we would have never met, and we definitely wouldn't have made it through 2 years of long distance. We are so blessed and excited to get married this Fall!
