Hood River has several coffee shops, restaurants, and galleries worth checking out. We recommend walking down the main street (Oak Street) and stopping at our favorite cafe (Doppio) to get one of their cookies.
Hood River has some of the best breweries and most of them are walking distance from downtown. Our favorites are Ferment (great outdoor patio and food), pFriem (pronounced freem), Full Sail, and Double Mountain (right downtown with great pizza).
Some of our favorite hikes in Oregon are in the Columbia River Gorge. We love Coyote Wall (moderate 7-mile loop) and Dog Mtn. (difficult 6 mile out-and-back), but there are many more that you can find on AllTrails!
Hood River is known for its wineries! For a beautiful setting, check out Stave + Stone Winery on the Fruit Loop (reservations encouraged) or Cor Cellars (farther drive but beautiful - call for reservations). Otherwise, there are plenty of tasting rooms right in town (Stave + Stone, Evoke and Cerulean).
