Kris: I first met Rebecca at a christian young adult event in Piqua, Ohio. This was the first time I would perform a godly rap song in front of a live audience. I really wanted to edify the people present with the message of keeping God first in their lives. This opportunity was a gift that I still cherish to this day. It has helped open many doors in my life. After successfully performing the christian rap song at the event, Rebecca was the first person to come up to me and share how it blessed her. I never forgot her face and booming personality. Years later with God’s perfect timing, we both ended up in the same class - training to be ministers of The Lord Jesus Christ. As the training would continue, I would see her shine in a wide variety of activities. I saw strong leadership, toughness, kindness, and huge love. We would find out that we had many of the same interests, such as music, video games, and exploring new places. Our main shared interest of course being our love for God and all that he’s done in our lives. I decided to tell her how I felt. I invited her for a run and expressed my huge interest in her. And guess what? She shared the same feelings. I thought that was super legit. 🥳 During an international biblical studies class, we led a bible study group together. This was an opportunity to work together as a unit to serve God and His people. This was where I got to see all the qualities I enjoy so much about her all happen in real time. My decision to want to be with her was solidified. Together we would graduate as ministers, and I'm looking forward to the next step in life together. Rebecca: I have always loved how imaginative Kris is and how he puts his whole heart into any project. His proposal was no different. Last New Years Eve, Kris suggested we celebrate by going out to eat. In the weeks before, he remained cagey about where we would be going, but I was just excited to see him. As it got closer, I began wondering if he would propose at the restaurant. However, when he came down, things turned out a little differently. In the car ride over, we took a different turn than I expected and found ourselves at a beautifully decorated gazebo at the place where we had studied to be ministers. He had been funny in the car all the way over so this was my clue that something was up. As we walked up into the gazebo, Kris started talking about how much he had loved being with me the past year and how much he wanted to continue growing with me and I said, “Yes! I would too!” He brought the ring out and placed it on my finger. We celebrated that night with a beautiful meal and time with friends. I’m so excited to keep building our relationship together and see how we can impact other people’s lives as well.
