Proposal story

3/6/2026

We snuck away for a long weekend to what is becoming one of our favorite places to visit as a couple...Evergreen, Colorado! I spent my summers going to Evergreen with my family from a very early age and have the best memories from my many trips there. I introduced Jason to Evergreen two years ago and we have now been three times. I had only ever been to Evergreen in the beautiful summertime and had never seen snow there. As the trip was getting closer, Jason and I both kept looking at the weather and it was looking more and more likely that it might snow on one of our days there...we were both excited and hopeful! The day that we drove out to Colorado in early March, it was sunny and 70 degrees...beautiful weather, but we were still hopeful for the forecast the next day. We woke up fairly early on Friday morning, March 6th, and sure enough, it was already snowing! We enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast and mimosas that had been delivered to our cabin and then got ready to head out into the snow for a walk through town and around the lake. There is a creek that runs through the property and Jason pulled me over to look at the creek. Not knowing what was about to happen, I asked him to take my picture, ha...we now call it the before picture! Right after the picture, Jason pulled the ring out of his pocket and told me that he had made me something and asked if I liked it. I looked at the ring, looked back at Jason, looked back at the ring...in my head, thinking, wait, is this 'the' question?! I finally said to him in a shaky voice, "Is that the question you want to ask me?". He laughed and then asked me to marry him. Easiest yes of my life! The thing that I didn't understand about his initial question was that he literally MADE the ring...from a gold and diamond brooch that had been my grandmother's. It is truly the most special ring, made with so much love. Evergreen got nine inches of snow that day! It was the most beautiful, magical setting for him to ask me to marry him in a place that has meant so much to me for so long, and with such a special ring. We had the BEST day, walking around town, playing in the snow, smiling and giggling, and just being so so happy. We FaceTimed with both sets of our parents that night to share our happy news and had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant. We've had a great time planning the wedding and are excited to begin married life!
