Jacob and I met at a wedding. He was a groomsmen. I was a bridesmaid. He will tell you himself, he knew he was going to marry me the day he saw me. I, however, was not so sure. A military man stationed in Charleston? I had always told myself and my friends that I would never date a military man or anyone long distance. Jacob proved to me the old adage- never say never. Jacob and I had been flirting and interacting throughout the wedding weekend. He actually met my parents at the wedding, he joked with me that he had just met his future in laws. I laughed at him and rolled my eyes. I dragged him onto the dance floor (he was very adamant that he didn't dance) and we enjoyed the short time we had together. Jacob and I talked back and forth for a few months. Whenever he came to Florida, he would ask to take me on a date. I began to fall in love with Jacob and in March of 2021 we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I still lived in Tampa, Florida and worked as a bedside nurse. He still lived in Charleston, SC working for the Air Force. We both traveled back and forth to see each other whenever we could. We stayed up late talking on the phone every night. And then- he asked me to move to Washington, DC with him. It was so easy to say yes because I was so excited to live in the same city. However, it was SO hard to leave my beloved Florida. On March 10th 2022, Jacob took to me to the Lincoln Memorial (where a few of our friends were hiding in the bushes taking photos) and got down on one knee. He said, "Alright babe, will you marry me?" and I said "Yes, of course." So! Here we are now. I am so happy that God brought Jacob and I together at our friends wedding just 2 short years ago. We cannot wait to celebrate with you- our beloved friends and family!
