Jacob is originally from Colorado, and moved to Florence, SC in January of 2024 for work. His landlady introduced him to me in February. Jacob loves Revolutionary War and Civil War history, and asked me if I wanted to go see the Battle of Camden battlefield. Being a history teacher, and South Carolina native, I agreed to be his tour guide. After a stop at the battlefield and a Mexican restaurant for lunch, I gave Jacob a tour of Florence, including some Civil War graves at the local cemetery. I thought that would scare him off for sure, but Jacob asked to see me again. By our third date, I had fallen for his blue eyes and kind intelligence, and the rest is history. Whether we're going on walks around the neighborhood or our local trails, visiting Myrtle Beach, Charleston, or Savannah, going bowling or playing mini-golf, or visiting a bookstore (even though we swear we have enough books), we've been in lock-step with each other since the day we met. Fast forward to just after Thanksgiving, when Jacob sent me a screenshot of a hotel reservation in Savannah, GA for the first weekend in December. Savannah is one of my favorite cities, and I had mentioned to Jacob that there was a Christmas market happening that I would be interested in checking out. We drove to Savannah on Saturday, December 7th and wandered around the market for a while. We ate dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Savannah, Churchill's, and made our way through the historic district to look at Christmas lights. Jacob wanted to walk to Forsyth Park to see the fountain. When we got there, the park was nearly deserted, with just a ghost tour gathered near the fountain. We walked around the fountain to sit on a bench. When the ghost tour left, Jacob got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I said yes! We cannot wait to build the rest of our lives together! We're both so grateful to you, our family, for your love and support! We are excited to celebrate our wedding with you soon!
