Dan and I met back in 2008 while he was playing ice hockey for River Dell High School. I was a freshman working as the team's manager, and Dan was a junior and one of the captains. We had been friendly during the season, but we didn't connect until the team found out Dan wouldn't be playing with River Dell anymore; instead, he'd be playing with Dumont. I messaged him in May of 2009 to tell Dan how sorry I was that he wouldn't be playing with us for his senior year. He thanked me for reaching out, and we've been chatting ever since!

Dan and I had been messaging throughout the summer of 2009 and into the new school year. On September 20th, Dan asked me to go for a walk and chat in person for the first time since the hockey season ended. I told him to meet me down the street from my house in River Edge because my parents still didn't know about Dan yet. We walked and talked all afternoon until one of my parents' friends stopped us to say hello. I didn't think much of it until I got home from my first date and my parents were waiting for me on the front porch to ask who I was with all afternoon.

In November of 2019, Dan and I went to visit my sister and maid of honor Christina in Greece, where she was studying abroad for the semester. The night before we left, Dan told me he was running to Target to get last-minute trip essentials when he was really meeting with my Dad to tell him he was going to propose to me on this trip. Dan carried the ring with him in his backpack through Athens, Thessaloniki, and sightseeing in Santorini, looking for the perfect moment to ask me, but nothing seemed quite right. Then after our first dinner in Santorini, we headed back to our room and changed into our swimsuits so we could enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset in the jacuzzi. We had been talking about what an incredible day we had and how great our trip had been when he stopped to ask with a huge smile on his face "Hey, do you wanna get married?", immediately I had said yes! Dan got out and went to get the ring from his bag.
